Delicious Leftover Easter Candy Blondies
All those leftover Easter candy bar pieces — Reese's eggs, Kit Kats, Cadbury bits — chopped and folded into brown butter blondies. The post-Easter baking project that transforms a surplus of candy into something even better than what you started with.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups chopped leftover Easter candy (such as Reese's eggs, Kit Kats, Cadbury chocolate)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- 3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Continue cooking, swirling occasionally, until butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- 4. In a large bowl, combine the brown butter and brown sugar. Mix until well combined.
- 5. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Beat until smooth.
- 6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- 7. Fold in the chopped Easter candy pieces.
- 8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- 9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- 10. Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
