15-Minute Stovetop Custard for Sweet Cravings

- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- 2 large egg yolks
- 3 tablespoons (40g) granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon (8g) cornstarch

Instructions
- 1. In a medium bowl, whisk together egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, and salt until smooth and pale.
- 2. In a small saucepan, heat milk over medium heat until just simmering (small bubbles around edge).
- 3. Slowly pour about 1/4 of the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to temper.
- 4. Pour the tempered egg mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining milk, whisking continuously.
- 5. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly with a whisk, until the custard thickens and just starts to bubble, about 3-4 minutes.
- 6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
